Meeting Minutes, 27 November 2006

GreenWheelers - Alisa, Chad, Aaron, Chris, Sara, Maya, Alysum, Victor, Clubs Coalition Meeting- This Friday at 5pm at Redwood Yogurt the clubs coalition is meeting. Alisa is going to represent. Hills yeah! Thanksgiving Bike Ride- Sara and Victor reported on their sweet bike trip down to the Bay Area. Both agreed it was one hill of a good time. They had a chance, not only to bike 350 miles down the coast, but bike over the Golden Gate, Bike the bicycle boulevards in the city, try out the BART with their bikes, and of course San Fran Critical Mass. The riders are all getting together Saturday night to share photos and stories. All are welcome to attend. At this exact moment, plans are tentative. Email Sara at Sed28 at humboldt.edu if you want to come, and she can email you where and when, after plans are made. Newsletter- Aaron put together one killer newsletter. You can check it out at: http://www.humboldt.edu/~wheels/Community%20Wheel%20Fall%2006.pdf. Send comments to Aaron. We decided to wait until after break to distribute the newsletter, that way people will have some time to actually read it. Sara is going to ask Revolution about buying an ad space; Chad is going to ask adventure's edge. Car-Free Day Appropedia- Here is a great way to put the behind the scenes planning of car-free day onto the web so that anyone and everyone can not only read it but add comments. A bunch of stuff is already on, but we need people to fill in the blanks and add more. If anyone did anything in preparation for Car-Free Day (ie called someone important, reserved something, talked to someone…) check to make sure it was written down. This will make planning in the future less sadistic and more fun. AND, it is really easy, even I can do it. Just go to http://www. appropedia.org/index.php?title=Car-Free_Day and start typing. Picasa- Log on to green wheels gmail account and download any photos you think should be linked from GreenWheels' website. Transportation Safety Meeting- Chris is on the board (hills yeah). He asked about dangerous spots around town that he can bring up with the board. If you think of any email chris at cjr16@humboldt.edu. He ran his ideas of things he would like to bring up at the next meeting: 1. Pursuing parking fees around town, rather than just four hour spots, as a way to discourage car driving, and create funding for the city. 2Creating a driver safety program at Arcata High School, as well develop incentives not to drive to school. If anyone thinks of realistic ideas contact Chris. (Apparently making every road in Arcata a toll road is not realistic) Bike Plan- We are going to do a public forum for the bike plan after break, on 1/24 at 5pm in Nelson Hall rm . In order to be ready to go after break Sara is going to reserve the room and file a staking permit. We will need to make some fliers and distribute them asap after break. Meeting Time After Break- We are going to meet the Monday before schools starts (that's Marten Luther King Day) at 5pm at Chris's house. We will send out a reminder email a bit closer to then with directions. Bring food. Parking Enforcement Numbers- If anyone sees someone parking in a bike lane you can call them in. During normal business hours call ; during non business hours you can call Arcata Police at . Selling food in the Library (our ticket to riches…and possibly t-shirts) - We are going to start selling food in the Library next week and finals week. Sara is going to tell the Library when and what we will be selling: What: Zucchini bread, beverages in a cooler(alias), Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, Fruit, Granola Bars, Emergen-C, Bike Maps (for the really hungry). When: I need times for the next two weeks people can sell stuff. So far I have Victor selling stuff on Wednesday from 5-7. I can do Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5-7. The more time the better, I think we can really make some money. I can buy the stuff we are going to sell. Does anyone have a good place to store stuff so that it is easily assessable? Sara Dykman
