Cyclist gets hit near Samoa

This incident on the southbound approach to the Samoa Bridges just in from the Eureka Reporter:

"Richard Tennant, 84, of Manila, was driving south on state Route 255 south of the intersection with New Navy Base Road when the collision occurred, according to a California Highway Patrol report.

CHP reported that as Tennant was passing Manos, his Ford Ranger pickup’s right-side mirror struck cyclist Tina Marie Manos, 52, of Eureka, causing her to be ejected from the bike and onto the roadway.

Manos, who suffered head injuries and abrasions, was transported to St. Joseph Hospital for treatment.
No arrests were made as a result of the incident."

Let's hope Tina recovers well.

I hope to learn more from Jennifer Savage today, as she was apparently there at the aftermath. As I recall, there is a short stretch with virtually no shoulder on the approach to the bridge.

Cyclist Hit near Samoa Bridge

Does California retest drivers after a certain age?

Why were no arrests made?

Why were no arrests made? Or at least charges? If the woman who accidentally lost control of her car resulting in the death of Roger Rodoni is being charged, then why not Tennant? "A driver must be in control of the vehicle at all times." I'm sorry Manos, perhaps you're not a prominent enough figure in the community. My best wishes in your full recovery.
