Aaron and I recently got back from the Towards Carfree Cities Conference in Portland, Oregon. We gained some new incites both at the conference and on the streets of Portland. Also attending the conference from Humboldt were Noelle Melchizedek from Humboldt Partnership for Active Living (HumPAL) and Bill Burton of Library Bikes.
The conference was put on by the World Carfree Network, which seems to be a loosely affiliated coalition of anti-car activists. This was apparently the first time the conference was held in North America.
I'll be posting more entries here on what I've learned from the conference, so stay tuned. One thing i have not learned, is what the graphic is supposed to be.
