A Parking Space Project

A Parking Space Project

Tuesday, April 22nd (Earth Day) from 8-3 on B-street.

Demonstrating the potential of a parking space, one space at a time:

This tuesday, Green Wheels will be joined by other campus clubs and organizations, to transform a parking space normally used by one car, into a space that can be used by the entire campus community. (don't worry we will buy a day use parking permit ($3).

Why buy a parking space?

As a central and highly traveled part of campus, B street has potential to be more than a dangerous, unplesant road/parking lot running through campus. Rather than filling the 27 curb side parking spaces with cars (allowing only 27 students that choose to drive to school the chance to use this central space), the campus could transform the parking spaces in to a community space. This would provide a safe, student-friendly, scenic and multi-use alternative to blacktop, and could include bike racks, benches, and landscaping.

Here is general parking at HSU. The red is general parking. This doesn't show Residential parking or Staff and Faculty. The horizontal skiny line in the center is B street:
