Re: Bike Lane to disappear on K St. @ 11th
Dear City Representatives,
Please do not allow the bike lane on K St., Arcata, to disappear to poor center line striping. Recently, I passed through the newly repaved section of K St. and noticed that the center line flag markings are at least THREE FEET off of the original center line striping forcing motorist to drive in the non-striped bike lane. Essentially, if you are driving north along the new center line, you are driving in the bike lane! The bike lane on K St/Alliance begins on the north side of 11th and should remain and be properly striped and signed by the construction crew. Arcata already has lost heavily traveled bike lanes due to non-striping after road construction. Road construction on Alliance Rd between Spear Ave and 27th St. a year ago (!) has all but completely eliminated the bike lanes, and poor center line striping near Spear has shifted the motorists lanes narrowing the space for cyclists.
I would be happy to express my concerns with you in further detail. Please feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
Brian Acord
